PRASHANT KUMAR, Ph.D. from BHU, has been Professor, Head and Dean in the Faculty of Commerce at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. He is a distinguished academician with over 40 years of teaching and research experience.
Dr. Prashant Kumar has authored five books and published 41 research papers and chapters in reputed national and international journals and edited volumes. He has actively participated in 48 national and international seminars, conferences, and workshops, and has chaired sessions, delivered keynote addresses, and presented guest lectures, including those at Academic Staff Colleges. He has successfully guided 17 Ph.D. scholars and one D.Litt. scholar and completed two research projects.
Dr. Kumar has held several key academic and administrative roles at BHU, including Coordinator of the MBA (Foreign Trade) programme, Convener and Secretary of the Departmental Research Committee, and Member of various University-level bodies such as the Investment Committee, Admission Coordination Board, Central Purchase Organisation, and Placement Cell of the Faculty of Commerce. He has also coordinated Refresher Courses and organised seminars and workshops.
A life member of the Indian Accounting Association and All India Commerce Association, he has served on Executive Committee of Indian Accounting Association. For his academic contributions in the field of commerce and management, he was honoured as 'Fellow of the Indian Commerce Association', and has received commendations from the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, BHU for his services as the member of Investment committee.
