PANCHANAN DAS, Ph.D., is Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at University of Calcutta. His teaching areas included Time Series and Panel Data Econometrics whereas his research interests broadly include Development Economics, Indian Economics, and Applied Macroeconomics. He has done a lot of research by using Indian Official Statistics. One of his major publications is a reference book of Econometrics published by Springer, Singapore. German edition of this book has also been published to meet the local demand in Germany. He has also published several articles on labour market issues, growth, inequality and poverty in referred journals like Economic and Political Weekly, Indian Journal of Labour Economics, The Journal of Income and Wealth, The Journal of Industrial Statistics, Asian Development Review, Journal of Quantitative Economics, and American Journal of Applied Sciences, and also in different edited volumes published by Routledge, Springer, and Cambridge University Press. He has also authored textbooks on economics, microeconomics and statistics, published by Oxford University Press, New Delhi. He is a major contributor of West Bengal Development Report–2008, published by Academic Foundation, New Delhi, in collaboration with the Planning Commission, Government of India.
