Have you ever thought that all your steps are being watched and monitored by the office seniors?
Most of the organisations are looking for energetic candidates who can learn their system immediately. An intern is the best available source that has been trained in the office environment and is acquainted with the organisation’s know- how. You just need to tap certain tips that can get you there. The time you enter the office or plan an internship make sure to do these:

Choose your future career:
Plan your internship in a way that it is also the area where you will invest as a future career option. However, any internship helps you explore. But it is advisable to put yourself where you wish to see yourself in near future.

Carry a professional attitude:
From the time you enter the office till the time of your internship, maintain a professional attitude and a dress code. Make sure that you do not carry a classroom behaviour. People at the office expect professional ethics. This simply means that they do not want you to disturb their work or tell you to mind your behavior.

Say YES to yes:
Any intern is treated a burden on a company when they have to be trained for every work. People at the office do not have the time to mind your steps. Make sure you catch the work taught in a go. Ready to submit it at the second chance. And be appreciated instantly. Always remember there is not much time to prove yourself. So, do any work that is assigned. From filling up coffee mugs  to picking up newspapers. Bigger tasks are given only when you can be trusted over small work.

Approach people/ Network:
There is a bunch of professionals working around you. Moreover, all of them can guide you well. You definitely cannot disturb them at work. But, catch them at lunch or in an elevator. Don’t be shy of asking questions or noting down their contact. Also, maintain a regular touch with them over social media even after the internship.

Work besides your desk:
Not many interns do or know this. But it is a great strategy to get access to other departments besides your desk.  Keep a track of the people working around you. Their designations and work nature can help you connect. Go over their desks, whenever possible and ask if you can lend help in any way.

Time tidy:
Since the internship period is for a fixed duration and you have the same time to prove your worth. Do not take an off unless necessary. One day leave is a one day less chance to mark your presence.

A Must-Thank you-Note:
Psychologists believe that handwritten notes are more effective as compared to typed letters. At the end of the internship, just make that psychological impact. Write a thank you note for all the guidance you went under and opportunities you look forward to connect in future. In the end, mail a cover letter mentioning your references and experience at the organization for the required vacancy. Get ready to be called for the interview and start working again.
