M. RAMAMOORTY, Ph.D. (Toronto University), is the Chancellor, K.L. University, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. He served as a Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department, IIT Kanpur, where he established for the first time in India a graduate programme in Power Electronics. He also worked as a Visiting Professor in a number of universities abroad, which include University of Sydney, Washington State University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, University of British Columbia, University of Waterloo and many others.

Dr. Ramamoorty authored five books on Thyristors, CAD of Machines, Reactive Power, Power System Protection and Hydro Power Generation and edited one book on Power Plant Instrumentation. He has a patent on the ‘Field Oriented Control of Synchronous Motor’. He has published more than 200 technical papers in reputed journals and has been actively associated with the power sector for over three decades.

He is the recipient of a number of awards which include the VASVIK Award, Bimal Bose Award, Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Award, Visvesvaraya Memorial Award, Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Award, National Design Award, Power Engineers National Award, IISc Alumnus Award, NPSC Award, lifetime achievement award from IEEMA and was the distinguished lecturer for Region 10 to IEEE.


O. CHANDRA SEKHAR, Ph.D., is Professor and Head, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, K.L. University, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. He had served in different capacities in technical institutions of higher learning for a period of over ten years. He has over 35 publications in international and national journals/conferences. He received the prestigious Young Scientist Award from Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB)/Department of Science & Technology (DST). His current research interests are in Multilevel Inverters, Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) Controllers, Micro Grids and Smart Grids.
