Our author Dr G SANKARASUBRAMANIAN, Professor of Civil Engineering, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, has been awarded Outstanding Corporate Fellow Member Award 2006 by The Institution of Engineers (India) , Coimbatore in recognition of his outstanding contribution. The award carrying a citation and a memento was presented during the 39 th Engineers' Day Function on September 15, 2006 at Auditorium, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Avinashi Road, Coimbatore. He was bestowed this honour very aptly on September 15 which is observed as Engineers' Day by the Engineering fraternity in India to commemorate the birthday of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya.

Dr A R Santhakumar, Professor Emeritus, Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madas, Chennai was the Chief guest. He delivered the Engineers' day address on Role of Engineers in National Disaster mitigation and Management.
